Glassonice

Glassonice is ICE AV’s smart film technology solution for the Smart Home, Audio Visual, Meeting Room and Architectural sectors.

Smart Films have started to penetrate a range of installations as customers start to realise the remarkable ability if marking glass opaque or clear and the touch of a switch.

PDLC film (polymer dispersed liquid crystal film) which is a kind of high-tech product can switch from transparent to opaque instantaneously under electricity application. It is transparent when power on and it is opaque when power off. It can be regulated and adjusted the light transmittance pass through the film by electricity supply.

Switching film and glass

The film is composed of PET film, ITO film, polymer and liquid crystal molecules. When the film is under off state, the randomly aligned liquid crystal molecules stay along on the walls of capsule, the reflection of liquid crystal molecules and polymer makes light disperses then it is opaque. While electricity supplied, these molecules arrange themselves in a specific direction then parallel light can pass through the film makes it transparent.

Intelligent switching PDLC smart glass is changing how we can use glass. In this video we provide bench top demonstration of the Glassonice switchable LCD film and Glass. Designed as a DIY laminate or manufactured as a active glass that can be either clear or white at the flick of the switch. In addition it can be controlled by ultra sound, motion sensing, under surface sensing, capacitance switching, integrated in system controllers or simple manual switching.

Glassonice PDLC glass and laminates are ideal to partners with our audio surface transducers, iQRite range of Polytouch interactive components and our iQRite touch frames and foils.

Once glass was used to simply provide a clear view through which we can separate two areas…. from inside to outdoors, wall room dividers or as a shop window providing security and yet a view to the goods inside.

With the Glassonice Smart Glass and Polymer allows glass to be used for privacy, display area, electronic lettering display, exclusion areas. Available as a laminated PDLC glass manufactured to size, shape and curved and also as a adhesive laminate. Sizes and shapes can be cut out on order with precision for attaching to existing windows and glass surfaces.

Glassonice PDLC laminates can be micro precision cut to to round, star, square shapes etc. It is available from 1.20m wide on the roll up to 30m long. For the DIY we can offer per metre costs, cut to size, cut to shape. In addition it is available in adhesive and non adhesive finishes. We can ship with or without the buss bar attached. We can supply complete laminated PDLC Glassonice glass ready to be indirectly place into a window frame and installed within the wall.

It is perfect for creating privacy in meeting rooms, bathrooms, high tech toilets, space age environments, rear projection screen, office walls. By switching off PDLC to the white status and creating a white glass wall makes a high tech write on white board using a whiteboard marker. Note that the write on surface should be the glass side and not the laminate side if added to existing glass. Further by using our Capacitance Polymer we can create the glass window to be fully compatible for finger interactive touch and for use with Windows XP / 7 Linux and Apple computer programmes.

Colours available are White, Blue / Grey, Dark Grey. Technically the glass is known as a Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal Film or PDLC film for short.

To discuss your creative application we look forward to yor approach.
