What we wanted to show you in the large studio environment where we could exclude all sunlight and grill the screen with a 1000 watts under a “we will make you talk” grilling. The optical efficiency and just how effective an ICE Digital Daytime Screen with an average projector and just how in-efficient a standard matt White screen is can be seen clearly. It proves there is “Magic in the Screen” and that an ICE Digital Daytime Projection Lens screen can out perform ANY Matt White Screen in the world from any manufacturer when we put them both to the test with 2 x 500 watt flood lamps and see if we can wash the image out. We have a clear winner that might define everything you thought you knew about projection screens.

In this video we have set up a 82″ Screen ICE Lens screen in the studio and have overlaid a standard Matt White Screen Cloth over a central portion of the screen so the same projector and content covers the same area. With out any trickery or
enhancements by image enhancement software, we prove without doubt that a 4,000 ANSI projector running with a lamp at 60% of its life already past, delivering an image that is simply stunning even when flood lamps are extremely close to the screen.

Though the ICE Digital Daytime screens are more costly than a typical matt white screen, we can assure you that that if you try to achieve the same screen image brightness performance with a matt white screen of any brand, you will be spending substantially more, probably more than your budget could ever be, to achieve the same image brightness by relying on the projector.  If you simply rely on the ANSI lumen of a brighter projector the total solution cost will be vastly greater.

Many times it is not practical, legal or possible to darken an environment to achieve stunning projected images on an affordable budget. In other situations there maybe cases that the ICE Digital Daytime DDT screens might not be suitable. In fact you will see the direct image on the white screen is a complete waste of time.

Even with a 8,500 ANSI lumen (brightness level) projector a screen measuring only 1sqm area is hopeless in a outdoor environment and yet with a 1.45m x 1.09m screen we achieve a perfect image. The screen could have been substantially larger and we would still have an amazing image.

Harsh projection screen test proves the Magic is in the Screen from ICE AV.

 For many people they find it hard to understand how this can be possible when a life time of attending the cinema or advice from audio visual companies dictates that the only way to achieve brighter projected images, is to darken the room or substantially increase the projector brightness. Here at ICE AV we prove yet again that this thinking is totally erroneous and a fallacy. the magic is in the Screen. Get this correct and everything else falls into place. Starting with the projector specification first will only ensure struggles and disappointment and a higher budget.

Our ICE DDT Lens Digital Daytime screen surface is able to make real magic in well lit rooms. And in fact the performance far exceeds say simply swapping out a 5000 ansi to 10,000 ansi projector such is the efficiency.  Here is a frame from a video we are producing and will upload soon. The reason people first think about the projector being the answer is because they are using the worst surface in regards to efficiency of amplifying light and rejecting room light.

In a full lit room, with a yellow flood light shinning directly onto the screen. We are hanging a piece of Da Lite matt white screen over the front. Projector lamp is now about 3000 ANSI on a 82 inch size screen.

Notice how the screen still displays an image all over and yet the matt white screen is completely washed out. This is typical performance from any brand matt white, grey or glass bead screen.

NZ’s largest theme park Rainbows End, achieves quality projection entertainment in the sunlight outdoors with an ICE AV Digital Daytime screen.

Projectors have made incredible improvements over the last 20 years. Where would we be without them? They are used in every conceivable display use and for entertaining audiences. However there is one brick wall challenging situation that stumps most people using a projector in a well lit environment.

Have you ever tried to use a projector and screen in a very bright area like a public stage. Rainbows End theme fun park in Auckland tried to do this using a matt white standard screen but were never able to achieve a viewable image – unless they waited till night time when every one had left. With a constrained budget our LED screen solutions were out of the question. We solved their display challenge easily for daytime use with one of our 92 inch Digital Daytime DDT Lens screens and an Optoma 5,000 ANSI projector. Needless to say they were totally impressed and have now mounted a system on the public performance stage for use during the day. It was the first time they had seen a projected image so bright with a standard affordable projector.

LED Division: By increasing the screen size simply by using dual imaging LED screens outdoors delivers the ability to gain attention in both direction and increase the value of the installation.

Typically a street that is busy in one direction (unless of course it is a one way street) will have good traffic movement in both directions. The volume of traffic may swap in direction depending on the time of the day or night. So whilst workers drive into the city in one direction heading to the office, the opposite direction might be light in traffic volume, however come evening time it is the reverse. Though as many city dwellers will know, unfortunately, heavy traffic in both directions down busy streets and highways is not affected by the time of the day. To maximise this audience in both directions, a dual image LED outdoor screen has real advantages, especially over swivelling the screen to face the heaviest traffic direction.

Flexible LED screens have a wide diverse applications.

LED Division: We have been noticing a big increase in LED screen technology projects inquiries. What was once only ever seen in sports stadiums or as billboards in major international cities, LEDs have really become a major enabling technology in so many industries and none more so than in the Digital Display area.

ICE FlexiRoll LED screens are available in 16, 20, 25mm and more coarse Pitch for video and graphics and more coarse for light patterns and very long distance viewing.  Overall within the range they are available in outdoor and indoor versions and from 1800 – 5800 NITS brightness.

We offer two models in this category of single and dual LED strip.

Screen size can be unlimited and you are able to join each panel section together.  Between each vertical led strip is a transparent see-thru air gap. Often we recommend that a black material cloth is hung behind the screen to re-inforce picture brilliance or if there are light sources behind the screen. The  need to do this really does depend though on your application and environment.
