In this Russian TV station we have a bank of 42 inch panels that have the more slightly coarse bezel. Even so on this size it is one of the thinnest on the market, but not as thin as the outstanding 0.9mm on the latest 60 inch we now offer.

One such convergence now available is with the innovative Hiperwall software that has allowed and changed the way large video walls and distributed displays are created, interacted with and maintained. When the Hiperwall software is used in conjunction with fine bezel display monitors like the Cima 60 inch or any brand for that matter, dynamic control and display of content is achievable in real time.

Don’t settle for ugly video walls with criss crossing black bar bezels.

Flat Panel Display: There is a growing demand for bigger, sharper display panels for video walls. One aspect that is crucial is the width of the seam. For plasma and LCD video display walls many use the phrase “seamless” very loosely.

Even when it is a 5mm bezel width on a single panel side, sales folk mistakenly still describe this as seamless which is a gross exaggeration. To be truly seamless LED screens are one of the few technologies that have no seam between each display block.

Coming in very closely and currently the finest seam in the world is the Cima plasma panels and for a 60 inch the seam is either 3.8mm or 2.8mm IN TOTAL distance between TWO panels. This remarkable thin size is where the technology is at present and allows a virtually seamless video wall. The Cima panels are distributed by ICE AV and available world wide.

The difference in the two seams is due to either the 120 inch model (4 panels – 3.8mm) or the unlimited size wall monitor with a 2.8mm seam between image sections.

Hiperwall is the digital glue that allows standard computers, monitors and LAN to be used as powerful scalable digital displays. They can be physically placed alongside each other to create a video wall or distributed throughout a building and used as digital signage.

Hiperwall makes it simple to build high performance, scalable video wall from ordinary computers, ordinary monitors and an ordinary LAN. Hiperwall lets you view any combination of content types:

  • Ordinary graphic images
  • Extremely large graphic images, up to 1 gigabyte or larger
  • Digital movies, including standard and HDTV format
  • Streaming content from cameras and other live sources

Live “sender” feeds that let a room full of people view the constantly changing screen displays of one or more computers. Hiperwall software also provides advanced capabilities like zoom, rotation, shading and transparency, enabling users to examine content with increased flexibility and effectiveness.

Hiperwall lets you resize and relocate each content object anywhere on the video wall, within a single monitor or across multiple monitors. Its as easy as moving and resizing windows on the desktop of your personal computer.

Advantages of Architecural Computing

The Hiperwall system breaks with tradition with its key break through architecture that is based on classical parallel processing techniques. By doing so it overcomes the performance limitations often associated wuth the display of large or numerous items on multiple display devices. This enables sustained high performance, high resolution visualisation system that provides unmlimited scalability without requiring the need for any specialised hardware and computing equipment. In today’s emphasis on ROI on capital investment Hiperwall delivers on many aspects.

High Performance Distributed Architecture – The central component of a Hiperwall installation is a set of computer monitors that are physically installed adjacent to each other in a “tiled” wall arrangement. Each monitor is a PC that can be external, or embedded in the monitor as found in the ICE Embedded displays, Samsung UXn family for example. However any model can be used and in this combination in Hiperwall language it is called a Display Node. Each Display Node then becomes a mini control centre for just that portion of the video wall and when combined together over a lan network then it creates a Distributed Computing Mesh.

Distributed Computing Mesh – Each of these Display Nodes is responsible for displaying a portion of the overall image that is being shown on the Hiperwall system. Each PC is responsible for processing (rendering) the portion of the overall image that is being displayed on its associated monitor. Subsequently, all of the PCs work in parallel to render the total image. This signifcicant development in video wall processing, means that the performance limitations that would come from attempting to render the entire image on a single PC.

Scalable Growth Deployments – Since each Display Node includes a monitor and PC, as you add more Display Nodes to a Hiperwall installation you increase the total display area and the total processing power. As a result, it is possible to expand the Hiperwall system without any practical limits. Systems can start with as few as 2 display nodes and can grow as large as space and network bandwidth permit.

Sustained Performance – The Parallel computing based on a mesh scenario therefore ensures that should one Display Node become faulty or looses its connection to the LAN then the other Display Nodes continue to display their content without any disruption, ensuring maximum up time for the video wall.

Hardware Agnostic – Off the shelf non proprietary hardware delivers and open architecture solution. The only specialised technology is the software itself. The Hiperwall software runs as a standard programme operating on a standard PC connected via a standard ethernet network. This reliance on standard hardware eliminates the cost and complexity of specialised switches and servers while giving the user greater flexibility in selecting from a variety of price performance points to meet their particular application requirements.

Display Agnostic – The Hiperwall software running on each display node is rendering images through the video controller on the PC within each Display Node.  As such, the software is not aware of the specific type of monitor being used. While LCD monitors are the most commonly used display technology, the user has the choice of any type of display, including LCD, Plasma, CRT, Projector or any of the new and emerging technologies like Organic LED. This flexibility enables specific display technologies to be deployed to best meet the resolution, image size, brightness and cost requirements of any application.

Content manipulation – The Hiperwall software installed on each PC Display Node allows you to control how each of the content types listed above is displayed on the Hiperwall video wall display.

Location – Move any piece of content to any location on the video wall, as easily as dragging a window around the desktop of a PC
Transparency – Adjust the transparency of any piece of content from fully opaque to fully transparent, great for doing visual overlays
Shading – Adjust the color shading of any object to expose new visual information or match desired aesthetics
Cloning – Multiple copies of any content can be displayed simultaneously on multiple locations on the wall. Each clone can be independently sized, positioned, rotated and colored.
Size – Resize any piece of content to any size. Have it occupy one area of a single monitor or expand it to cover the entire video wall
Zoom – Zoom in to see fine detail or zoom out to see the big picture
Rotation – Rotate any piece of content to any orientation

Software Version.

The Hiperwall software solution is hardware agnostic and requires only ordinary PCs, ordinary monitors and an ordinary Ethernet network. The system displays still images up to 1GB resolution or larger, HD videos, live HD video streams and PC applications, turning a bank of monitors into an ultra-high resolution video wall. Multiple feeds can be displayed on the wall simultaneously and users can reposition and resize each feed as easily as moving and resizing windows on a PC desktop. Each feed can be scaled up for viewing on several monitors or the entire wall instantly depending upon the user’s discretion.


The latest Hiperwall software version also features a ‘Web Services Interface’ function that turns any PC or other networked digital device, including AMX or Crestron controller systems, into a remote control unit that can change the video wall display in a single room or throughout a facility.

Some of the other new features in Hiperwall v1.2 include:
• the ‘Slide Show’ feature now permits the control of duration times and the display size of specified content;
• a ‘Fractional SmartSnap’ feature allows users to display content on whole monitor increments or in one-half, one-third or one-quarter monitor increments;
• ‘Diagnostic Display’ allows the control screen to show data on each video wall display node for troubleshooting;
• ‘Magnifier’ allows the control node operator to see an enlargement of any portion of the video wall;
• the ‘Streamer Node’ feature now has enhanced video stream image quality, including the ability to stream 1080 high-definition video.

With its latest software upgrade and completely scalable architecture, the Hiperwall system is uniquely suited to meet the visual communication requirements of many diverse applications including digital signage; command and control rooms at government, military, utility and transportation installations; trading floors, medical/scientific imaging, aerial imaging, broadcast, fleet management and more.
